Kearney Public Schools is inviting the Kearney Community to a “Community Conversation and Listening Session” to help construct a solution for our high school and middle schools. The KPS secondary schools are about to experience the largest classes in history and are in need of a solution to accommodate the numbers. The school system is looking to the community for guidance in solving these issues.

 Horizon Middle School will be registering current 6^th and 7^th grade students this week for the upcoming 2013-14 school year.  Students who are currently attending Horizon Middle School received their registration information March 6^th.  All 7^th grade students must turn in a completed health physical form on or before August 15, 2013.  Students not currently attending Kearney Public Schools should contact the registrar’s office at 698-8029.

Youth Opportunities
The Buffalo County Youth Advisory Board is looking for 7^th and 8^th graders interested in meeting with other area youths to tackle a range of social problems that concern youth.  Buffalo County YAB is governed by a board of 30 youth and 7 adult mentors and staff.  For more information or an application, contact the Buffalo County Community Health Partners Office at 308-865-2284 or info@bcchp.org.  Registration deadline is May 1, 2013.

Hastings Community College Scholars Academy – June 23-28, 2013.
Hastings Community College is offering a six day camp for 7^th and 8^th grade gifted and talented students interested in ROBOTICS, COMMUNICATION, MATHMATICS, or SCIENCE.  Academy brochures and registration information is available at www.hastings.edu/hcsa.  Application deadline is May 3, 2013.
